Audiobook cover of novel "Not My Job Anymore" by Margie Benedict, highlighting AudioFile Earphones Award-Winning Narrator Alex Picard

A few items this week…

Audiobook listeners—the Not My Job Anymore audiobook is on sale for $1.99 for a limited time at Chirp, Apple, and Barnes & Noble. It may be discounted at Audible as well, though they set their own prices, so I’m never quite sure. You won’t want to miss the fabulous performance by Alex Picard, who recently won the AudioFile Earphones Award for her narration of “The Neighbors Are Watching,” by Aggie Blum Thompson. The promise of a creepy neighbor thriller (yes, please) and Alex’s hypnotic voice are all the convincing I need to want to hear it.

In other book news, I’ve reinstated preorder sales for Not My Match Anymore. I had to take down the previous preorder when I realized that thanks to the craziness going on in my life this summer (see below), I couldn’t guarantee making the deadline. I’ve now reinstated it with a more generous deadline AND the lower price of $5.99. If you ordered it before, you’ll have to order it again, but I hope it will be worth it to save $4. You won’t be charged till your book is delivered to you.

The ebook price of Not My Job Anymore has also been lowered to $5.99.

My apologies if you’ve missed my formerly frequent appearances in your inbox. I had hoped to maintain a weekly schedule, but life intruded. It began with a routine check-in for my husband with his cardiologist and quickly escalated from we’re getting him a room at the hospital to he needs a quadruple bypass ASAP.

We didn’t argue.

Now, two months later, he’s doing so well we decided to indulge in another major stress-inducing activity: moving to a new home.

Yes, we’re moving to what we hope will be our forever home—this time. When we began looking, there was a lot of talk about downsizing. Unfortunately, the house we chose is actually a little larger than the one we already have. Nevertheless, I’m taking the opportunity, as I begin packing, to apply strict standards to everything I own: if I haven’t used it—or even looked at it—in more than a year, it has to go. Iron, I’m talking to you.

Why should my clothes be any less wrinkled than I am?

With luck, the purge will leave us with mostly empty rooms in the new house, which is necessary because we’re a blended family. Between the two of us, there are lots of kids, in-laws, and grandkids. Our goal is to make the house such a fun vacation destination, they’ll be encouraged to travel to us instead of the other way around. For some reason, none of them live in the same state as we do, and we’re struggling not to take it personally.

See you next blog.
